Mock Trial State Finals Courtroom Artists Contest

Congratulations on winning your county’s Courtroom Artist Contest! For more information review the Courtroom Artist Contest Rules/Requirements or contact Daisy Alonso at daisy@teachdemocracy.org or 213-316-2127.

Artists Registration, Fee, and Student Waiver Form: Each courtroom artist participating in the 2024 California Mock Trial Finals must register online, pay a registration fee of $95.00, and submit a student waiver by March 6.

Artist Check-in (Friday, March 22 at 12:00 pm): The artist check-in will take place in the Biltmore Foyer at the Biltmore Hotel. At check-in, artists will receive a participation certificate, a goodie bag, a label for their official sketch, and other information.

Welcome Orientation (Friday, March 22 at 1:00 pm): Artists are encouraged to attend the Welcome Ceremony in the Biltmore Bowl at the Biltmore Hotel. 

Practice Drawing - Round 1 (Saturday, March 22 at 5:00 pm): All courtroom artists must attend Round 1 and sketch a practice drawing of their team's trial at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. All participants must bring their Round 1 practice drawing to the Courtroom Artist Workshop.

Courtroom Artist Workshop (Saturday, March 23 at 9:00 am): All courtroom artists must attend the Artist Workshop at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. During this meeting, artists will interact with other courtroom artists and learn tips from a professional artist. Artists will also receive important information about the contest and receive feedback on the Round 1 practice drawing. 

Courtroom Artist Official Drawing - Round 3 (Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 pm): All courtroom artists must attend Round 3 to sketch their official drawing of their team's trial at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. All artists must submit their official drawings to the judge at the end of Round 3.

Championship Trial (Sunday, March 24 at 9:00 am): Artists are welcome to attend the Championship Trial at the Biltmore Hotel. 

Awards Ceremony (Sunday, March 24 at 1:00 pm): A professional artist will judge all entries with first, second, and third place plaques that will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony at the Biltmore Hotel.
