2025 State Finals - March 14-16 in Los Angeles.


Check-in, Welcome, and Coach Meeting - in the Biltmore Bowl at the Biltmore Hotel
 

  • Check-in - Friday, March 14 at 12:00 pm. All teams, artists, and journalists.

  • Welcome - Friday, March 14 at 1:00 pm. All teams, artists, and journalists - announcements, team roll call, and team match ups.

  • Coach Meeting - Friday, March 14 at 1:30 pm. For coaches only, last minute details/questions.

Round 1-4 Trials - Stanley Mosk Courthouse

All teams will participate in the four rounds of competition. 
Round 1 - Friday, March 14 at 5:00 pm.
Round 2 - Saturday, March 15 at 8:30 am.
Round 3 - Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 pm.
Round 4 - Saturday, March 15 at 4:30 pm.

Courtroom Artist and Journalist Workshops - Stanley Mosk Courthouse

Journalists Workshop (Friday, March 14 at 5:30 pm) – All journalists must attend. During this workshop, students will interact with other journalists, learn tips on becoming a better reporter/writer, and get feedback from a professional writer. Review the Journalist section for additional important information.

Courtroom Artists Workshop (Saturday, March 15 at 9:00 am) - All registered courtroom artists must attend. This workshop will allow the courtroom artist to meet other artists, learn about courtroom art as a profession, and get feedback from a professional courtroom artist. Review the Courtroom Artist Contest section for additional important information.

Student Social - Biltmore Bowl at the Biltmore Hotel

Student Social: Saturday, March 15, at 8:00 p.m. At approximately 9:45 p.m., the top two teams moving on to the Championship Trial will be announced, and immediately following, the top two teams will have a brief meeting.

Championship Trial - Federal Courthouse

Championship Trial: Sunday, March 16, at 9:00 a.m. The top two teams will compete for the spot to represent California in the 2025 national competition. 

Awards Ceremony - Biltmore Bowl at the Biltmore Hotel

Awards Ceremony - Sunday, March 16 at 1:00 pm. Plaques and medals will be awarded to the top eight teams, with the first-place team receiving the James A. Cobey perpetual trophy. In addition, presentation of the Outstanding Attorney, Outstanding Witness, Outstanding Clerk, and Outstanding Bailiff awards will be presented, as well as The J. Skelly Wright plaques will be given to the Best Defense Pretrial Motion Attorney and the Best Prosecution Pretrial Motion Attorney. Also, plaques will be awarded to the 1st–3rd place courtroom artists and journalists. After the event, teams will receive their scores and participation certificates.
